A drilling bit for use in percussive, rotary or rotary-percussive drilling of holes in rock consists of a steel body in which cutting elements have been embedded in the shape of buttons of tungsten carbide or ceramics. The embedded part of each element has waisted parts which are fully or partly filled out with the surrounding steel of the body by mechanical or thermal action after the buttons have been driven in the holes. Provides additional security against the slackening of the buttons if excessive shocks arise in tricone roller bits or percussive drilling bits with button inserts. |
