<p>The invention relates to an aqueous adhesive solution based on polyvinyl alcohol in combination with unboiled unoxidized alkali hydrolyzed neutralized starch for the mechanical labelling of bottles and glass vessels in high speed labelling machines. When dry the adhesive is resistant to condensation water. The solution has a polyvinyl alcohol content of 12% to 25%, based on the total weight of the solution and a thickener content of 0.1% to 1% by weight. The polyvinyl alcohol and starch are present in the weight ratio of 85% to 65% of polyvinyl alcohol, to 15% to 35% of unmodified, hydrolized starch.</p> |
