<p>A steel box(11) is inserted in the length of the flue pipe (10a, 10b) of the boiler. There is a coil of finned tube (13, 14) within the box arranged so that the flue gases flow perpendicularly over it. The entry (15) of the coil is connected to the boiler and the outlet (17) of the coil is connected to the boiler flow (18). A pump (19) is included in the connection between the boiler return and the coil entry. Damper blades (21b) run across the top of the box and enable the flue gas flow to be regulated. The economiser extracts the sensible heat of the flue gases and adds it to the water flowing through the coil.</p> |
