The closable transport and storage crate for bottles with tapering necks is of cardboard or plastics. The halves (5) fold together (3), and the bottles in them are so arranged that the necks of those in one half fit in recesses between the bottles in the other. The bottles in the halves can be offset from each other in a hexagonal pattern. When the halves are folded together they can be secured in this position by tear-open devices, allowing them to be unfolded or separated from each other, completely. Handles or other grips can be provided on the outside.
