The reinforced tyre tread has grooves running around the circumference with metal cables threaded through them. The cable loops prevent the tread from being torn off the carcase under high speeds or when in use over rough ground. The grooves can be in a spiral so that an endless loop of cable can be used. The cable can be laid to protrude from the upper surface of the tread so that improved ice grip is produced without damage to road surfaces.
