1495311 Two-part couplings SIEMENS AG 21 April 1975 [16 May 1974] 16307/75 Heading H2E An elongate contact 4 comprises a terminal clamping portion 2 at one end for connection to an insulated conductor and a contact spring 3 at the other end, the thickness of the material of the contact spring 3 being less than at least a portion of the terminal portion 2, with which portion the spring is integral. The figure shows a break-jack comprising two cotnacts 4 with their springs 3 in abutting connection and adapted to receive a conductive or insulating plug inserted between their springs for tapping or breaking a connection of a telephone distribution system. The spring 3 and terminal clamping portion 4 are shown as a single piece of strip metal with a thicker zone 27 which has a cranked arm 7 coplanar with a spring 8 welded at 20 to the portion 4 to define two insulationpiercing wire-receiving slots; a solder tag 33 is welded at 26 to the contact spring 3 and carries a diode 34 and further tag 35. A fixing hole 22 engages a pimple in a housing (not shown) to mount the contact. A leaf spring contact (28, Fig. 9, not shown) may be secured to the spring 3 instead of the tag 36. End portions of the spring 3 and portion 2 may be silver plated (18, Figs. 4 and 5). The springs 3 and portions 2 are stamped from a sheet which has previously been rolled to provide the thicker material of the portion 2. |
