The bus duct is made up of identical preformed sections made of insulating material. The duct is of U-shaped cross-section and can accommodate one or more bus-bars. At intervals along the duct there are access points, in the form of small boxes, for terminals. The sides of the boxes protrude beyond the general outline of the duct. These protruding sides also allow interlocking the duct with at least one other identical duct in parallel. The boxes forming the access points are closed with knock-out covers. After breaking out and fitting on a terminal and its lead the area can be isolated by fitting a snap-on shroud. The form of construction requires only one insulation moulding for constructing a multi-channel bus duct of any desired length, and also permits easy access at frequent points along the run.
