The colour printing system uses a single pressure roller (10) with a set of inking rollers (11, 12, 13) around it each having an inked stereotype plate so that the different colours are printed on the sheet in a single operation. This avoids all problems of alignment of the sheet during printing, the whole operation being carried out on one pass. There are no errors due to misalignment, as the sheet is gripped by the feed devices (14, 15) at one side and delivered to the receiving member (16) on the other side without slipping and twisting. The sheet is automatically gripped as soon as the paper is pushed forwards, and released at the delivery position.
