<p>A new injection pistol for animals has a rigid tubular housing completely intersected by an axial passage. It has an external gripping head at one end, and is surrounded by a flexible housing fixed at one end by means which can be adjusted around the gripping head. At its unfixed end, the flexible housing projects beyond the rigid body and has an injection opening which is internally reinforced by an adaptor tube, the adaptor tube being transected by a passage. A plunger is slidably mounted in the axial passage of the rigid body and projects from this at the grip end. The rigid body is freely displaceable within the gripping head, and the adaptor tube is freely slidable in the flexible housing. The sections of the adaptors tube and the body are such that these two components can fit together in the axial direction. Pref. the reinforcing adaptor tube is replaceable by a massive piston head which is freely displaceable within the housing and is shaped so as to receive the end of the plunger. The injection pistol is partic. suitable for the artificial insemination of cattle. Because the adaptor tube and the body of the pistol are separate, the pistol can be used for the applications of different types of semen pellets.</p> |
