Curare-type salts of the formula (1a) or (1b) WHEREIN Ac is an alkyl carbonyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety and one of R1 and R2, is a methylene group and the other is a group of the formula >N-R2 wherein R2 is an alkyl group containing 1 to 3 carbon atoms, A is halogen and R3 is an alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or an alkyl group; and A PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION THEREOF ARE DISCLOSED.
