1435681 Methane sulphonyl fluoride PENNWALT CORP 2 Jan 1975 [20 March 1974] 109/75 Heading C2C Methane sulphonyl fluoride is obtained by reacting methane sulphonyl chloride with at least an equimolar amount of KF in solution in at least 12 moles of water per mole of KF at a temperature above the freezing point of the reaction mixture but not exceeding 50‹ C. The CH 3 SO 2 Cl is preferably added slowly to an aqueous solution of KF and the reaction temperature maintained at 0-35‹ C. A molar excess of KF relative to CH 3 SO 2 Cl of 2-5% is suitable. The product is advantageously recovered by progressive distillations of the separated oil and water layers of the reaction mixture to achieve complete separation and maximum yield of CH 3 SO 2 F.
|
