<p>The prosthesis is for the front part of the foot, being moulded to the shape of the amputated portion. It has a mounting portion (3), whose internal surfaces (4) are moulded to fit exactly against the surface of the limb stump. There may be a reinforcing sole in the low part, to increase the strength of the moulding. The surfaces of the latter not in contact with the stump can be coated with varnish containing a hardening ingredient. The sole can be embedded in the mass of moulded material (2) and can be of woven glass fibre. The moulding can be of plastic foam, hardening when cold.</p> |
