1496204 Connecting extruder barrel lengths HERMANN BERSTORFF MASCHINENBAU GmbH 14 April 1975 [18 April 1974] 15241/75 Heading B5A Adjacent sections 1, 51, of the barrel of a worm extruder, each comprise a channel or channels 7 for the circulation of a heating and/or cooling fluid defined between inner and outer cylindrical members 2, 4, and 52, 54, the sections 1, 51, being sealingly clamped together in abutment with a ring 11 which has a peripheral channel 16 for heating or cooling fluid. Clamping is effected by bolts 19 engaging, at nuts 21, 22, on annular flanges 3, 53, which are welded around the members 2, 52, and provide bores 9, 59, for fluid connection to spiral heating or cooling fluid channel 7, 57, machined around each inner member 4, 54. The outer and inner members 2, 4, and 52, 54, are keyed against rotational movement by pins 6, and the inner members 4, 54, extend axially beyond the outer members 2, 52, for abutment with the ring 11. The abutments of the ring 11 with the members 2, 4, and 52, 54, are sealed by rings 13, 15 and 12, 14, and the recess 16 is peripherally closed by a welded-on plate 17, through which extends a pipe connection 18 for heating or cooling fluid. |
