<p>The flat operated valve esp. a shut-off valve for hot water installation has a float (24), being a hollow sphere made of glass. Glass is chosen because of its immunity to the corrosive effects of the hot water. The float may act directly on a shoe (23) connected through a push rod (18) to a lever (14) on which the closure member (15) of the valve is mounted. If it is required to provide a pivotal connection directly to the float, the glass sphere is provided with a lug having a hole for a pivot pin. The lug may be integral with the sphere.</p> |
