Pesticidal nitrophenyl tiglic or tiglyl-carbonic acid esters - prepd. by reacting nitro-phenols with tiglic acid or tiglyl-carbonyl chloride

New nitrophenyl esters are of formula (I). In (I) n is 0 or 1; R, R' and R'' are a combination of 1 or 2 NO2 groups and u or 2 straight-chain, branched or alicyclic, (un)satd. 1-10C alkyl gps. or a combination of 1 or 2 NO2 gps. with Cl or Br atoms; and R"' is H or 1-4C alkyl (esp. CH3). (I) are esp. useful as acaricides. Specific cpds. (I) include tiglic acid 2-sec. butyl-4,6-dinitrophenyl ester. In an example, this is prepd. by reacting tiglic acid chloride with 2-sec-butyl-4, 6-dinitrophenol in toluene in the presence of triethylamine.
