1453309 Refractory patching composition USS ENGS & CONSULTANTS Inc 21 Dec 1973 [21 Dec 1972] 59515/73 Heading C1J A refractory composition for patching cokeoven walls comrises 50-93 wt. per cent siliceous aggregate (-3 Tyler mesh, to allow penetration into cracks being patched); 3-15 wt. per cent plastic fire clay (-14 Tyler mesh); 2-12 wt. per cent of a binder selected from sodium silicate, chromic acid, boric acid, sodium sulphate, magnesium sulphate, sodium phosphate and organic binders (e.g. dextrin, liquid sulphonate) and from 1-25 wt. per cent of a manganese oxide containing material, whereby the total MnO content of the material is 0À5 to 15 wt. per cent. The siliceous aggregate may be quartzite, ground silica brick, siliceous sand or siliceous clay. The manganese oxide containing material (e.g. minus 48 Tyler mesh) may be manganese ore, ferromanganese dust, or chemically pure manganese oxides. |
