Combined truncheon and tear gas ejector - has sliding tab on handle covered by safety block and used to operate valve

The weapon for self defence is a truncheon with a handle (1) containing a tear gas bottle (3), and a rubber block (2) fits inside the handle. A sliding sleeve (5) with a hole (6) through the middle fits over the valve (7) protruding from the gas bottle, and a tubular extension (13) at the other end fits inside a discharge tube (14) down the middle of the rubber block. Around the connection between them is mounted a washer (8) with a tab (9) extending from it, passing through a slot (10) down the side of the handle. A safety button (11) fits around the tab. To operate the device, the bottom is swung aside and the tab pulled downwards, which slides the sleeve (5) to operate the discharge valve (7).
