1488827 Flame-retarded hydrophilic polyurethanes W R GRACE & CO 8 Oct 1974 [9 Oct 1973] 43623/74 Heading C3R A hydrophilic polyurethane composition of oxygen index >30% comprises flame-retardant amounts of hydrated alumina and a P-containing additive. The additive may be, e.g. a phosphorus halide, P 2 O 5 , phosphite, polyphosphite, optionally chlorinated or brominated organic or inorganic phosphate, e.g. ammonium phosphate, polyphosphate, ammonium salts of phosphonomethylated ethers, melamine phosphate, urea-phosphates, phosphoroxytriamide, phosphonate, or polyphosphate, e.g. ammonium polyphosphate or a chlorinated phosphonate. The polyurethane may be a cross-linked foam made by using a capped polyoxyethylene glycol and a very large excess of water. The fireretardant may be present in the water. Also present may be Sb oxide, ammonium caseinate dispersant, silicone surfactant, CaCO 3 , and colourant. Uses.-Cushioning, padding, wall covering. |
