<p>1487377 Saws SIKOB SVENSK INDUSTRIS KONSTRUKTIONS-OCH BERAKNINGSKONTOR AB 17 Sept 1974 [18 Sept 1973] 40392/74 Heading B5L A workpiece of wood is sawn by a circular, or, as shown, frame or band saw blade comprising chip cutting saw teeth 3 provided fast with a cutting knife edge 2, the knife edge being so positioned with respect to the teeth 3 that it cuts asunder either a chip just liberated or, preferably, one still adhering to and being formed from the workpiece so as to distribute the two chip portions thus produced on opposite sides of the blade into the saw kerf. As shown, the teeth 3 are attached, as by welding or brazing, to the saw blade so that the saw teeth points project forwardly of the knife edge 2 a distance b which is less than the intended feeding depth a whereby the knife edge cuts chips still adhering to and being formed from the workpiece. By reducing the distance b the knife edge may cut into a portion of the workpiece unaffected by the saw teeth so as to provide lateral guidance of the saw blade in the kerf. The knife edge may be in a plane centrally of or to one side of the central saw blade plane. On sufficient increase of the distance b, the knife edge cuts the chips after their liberation from the workpiece. In Fig. 5 (not shown) forwardly projecting sawteeth comprise tabs punched and bent and set, and possibly stretched from the blade, alternately on opposite sides thereof. The saw teeth points may alternatively be disposed rearwardly of the knife edge whereby the workpiece is first engaged by the knife edge. In such embodiments the teeth may be formed in halves and welded or brazed on opposite sides of the blade, or, Fig. 4 (not shown), bunched and bent and set, and possibly stretched, from the blade.</p> |
