1439929 Aritiskid braking systems LUCAS ELECTRICAL Ltd 14 June 1973 [14 July 1972] 32984/72 Heading F2F An antiskid braking system releases the brakes from the front wheels of the vehicle if the rotational deceleration of the front wheels exceeds a predetermined value and independently releases the brakes from the rear wheels if the deceleration of the rear wheels exceeds a predetermined value and includes means operable when the brakes are applied for detecting locking of a rear wheel and disconnecting the antiskid control from the front wheels so restoring normal braking thereto. The control is also disconnected from the rear wheels on detection of locking of a rear wheel but a delay network is incorporated so that momentary locking of a rear wheel does not disconnect the control. The antiskid control is inhibited when the front wheel rotational speed falls below a set low value and in the case of a front wheel drive vehicle the control is inhibited when front wheel spin occurs when the vehicle moves from rest, the inhibiting means being wired to the brake warning lamps so that the system is inhibited except during braking.
