<p>The edge of the door pillar, on the body, is tapered into a wedge profile over the height of the side windows. The edge of the door frame is likewise tapered, with a narrow trailing edge, to overlap the pillar taper and provide a smooth closure without any visible gap. This greatly reduces wind noise as well as improving the appearance of the vehicle. The pillar and door frame sections are made from thin walled metal sheet with a double layer on the outside, and with single layers on the adjacent inside faces. This allows sharper pressing radii and a light construction.</p> |
