On a monorail track of the suspension or above-rail type, as used in mining for personnel or material transport, the flange roller is for guidance of a traction cable, in a roller opening formed by a number of flange rollers, with a gap opening for the passage of a cable arm. A cable running surface is formed on the flange rollers, with curved crossovers into the flanges. The cable running surface (71) is flatly concave arched over most of the flange roller (70) width (B). The curved crossovers (73) are short and sharply curved. The roller flanges (75) have cut-away edges (77). This makes it possible to provide a traction cable roller opening where sufficiently strong closure forces are applied to the gap, in spite of the presence of relatively weak closing springs.
