1524358 Azomethine copper complex dyestuffs SANDOZ Ltd 12 Sept 1975 [16 Sept 1974] 37567/75 Heading C4P Novel azomethine dyestuffs have the formula where R 1 is H, COOH, alkoxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl, mono- or dialkylaminocarbonyl, benzimidazolonyl-S-aminocarbonyl or phenylaminocarbonyl, the phenyl radical optionally being substituted by up to three substituents from Cl, Br and methyl and up to two substituents from CN, NO 2 , CF 3 , methoxy and ethoxy; R 2 is H, hal, alkoxy or NO 2 ; R 3 and R 4 independently are H, hal, NO 2 , alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl, mono- or dialkylaminocarbonyl, phenylaminocarbonyl, alkylcarbonylamino, alkoxycarbonylamino, benzoylamino, or benzylcarbonylamino. The dyestuffs are prepared by metallizing with copper II ions the non-complexed dyestuffs in which the OH group on the benzene ring may be in the form of the methyl or ethyl ether. Alternatively the dyes may be prepared by condensing the corresponding hydroxy-naphthaldehyde compounds with the appropriate aminohydroxy (or methoxy or ethoxy) diphenyl compound in the presence of copper II ions. The compounds (I) are used as pigments for colouring plastics in the mass, paper in the stock, paints, varnishes or printing inks. |
