<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce a ringing melody with a high-quality sound while saving a communication band and reducing processing loads in a terminal. <P>SOLUTION: A portable telephone acquires score data 31 via a network. Also, sound source data 32 are stored in a memory card 16 attachable/detachable to/from the portable telephone. The score data 31 are converted to compressed digital audio data 34 by a CPU 13 and a DSP 14. The converted compressed digital audio data 34 are filed and stored in an internal memory 17.
