<p>PURPOSE:To provide a tape driving mechanism which can set a speed ratio between a low-speed mode and a high-speed mode large. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recording and reproducing device 1 is generally composed of a tape driving mechanism 2, magnetic head 3 and the mounting mechanism (not shown in a figure) of a data cartridge 4. The tape driving mechanism 2 is provided with a first driving mechanism 5 for running a tape at high speed, second driving mechanism 6 for running the tape at low speed, and switching mechanism 7 for switching from the first driving mechanism 5 to the second driving mechanism 6. When the data cartridge 4 is mounted, the magnetic recording and reproducing device 1 performs magnetic recording and reproducing by running the tape at low speed with the second driving mechanism 6 and performs a retrieving operation by running the tape at high speed with the first driving mechanism 5.</p> |
