1,143,423. Analogue-to-digital converters. FUJITSU Ltd. 18 May, 1966 [18 May, 1965], No. 22195/66. Heading G4H. An analogue-to-digital converter comprises a sign detector 212 for indicating the sign of the input signal, a second sign detector 222 indicating the sign of the input signal after rectification at 226 and having a reference value subtracted from it at 223, a third sign detector 232 indicating the sign of the output of circuit 223 after rectification at 236 and having a reference value subtracted from it at 233, and so on to obtain successively lower digits. Amplifiers 224, 234, 244 are provided to double the signal value between stages or alternatively the reference values at terminals 227, 237, 247 may be in the ratio 4, 2, 1. The value applied at 227 is half the maximum amplitude of the signal at the output of the amplifier 223. In the form shown inverters 225, 235, 245 are provided between rectifiers and the amplifiers. These may be omitted and the amplifiers may be replaced by attenuators. |
