PURPOSE:To widen an in-use range of temperature greatly by installing a display element airtightly in a tube body which is enclosed with prescribed gas, and providing a sensor which adjusts the temperature of the prescribed gas. CONSTITUTION:The liquid-crystal display element 6 is arranged fixedly on a circuit board 7, a rubber connector 8 is provided between the element 6 and circuit board 7 for electric connection, and the board 7 is connected to an external driver electrically through a lead-out line 9. Further, prescribed gas, e.g. He, Ne, or Ar is enclosed in the tube 10 having a transparent display surface. Further, the temperature adjusting means consists of a temperature sensor 12 which detects the ambient temperature of the liquid-crystal display element 6 and a heater 13 which makes a temperature adjustment by heating on the basis of its detection signal. Consequently, the in-use range of temperature is widened greatly.
