PURPOSE:To prevent the missing and damage of film originals due to scattering and to prevent a scanning head from being damaged by detecting the stripping of an overlay sheet. CONSTITUTION:Film originals laminated together with an overlay sheet 41 on a drum 10 are optically scanned by ascanning head 32 to input or record pictutes in the cylindrical scanner. A pressuresensitive sensor 50 detecting the stripping og the overlay sheet 41 by touching the overlay sheet 41 removed from the drum 10 is provided on a scanning head 32. By detecting the stripping of the overlay sheet 41 which fixes the film on the drum 10, the missing or damage of the scattered film originals brought about by the stripping of the overlay sheet 41 can be prevented.
