The large disc (3m dia. or more) is used to cut glass or ceramic. Internal stresses and instability of the material alterations of shape are avoided during grinding. The construction of the disc consists of fibres or wires (3) mounted radially between the hub (1) of the disc and the outer rim (2). The wires or fibres are embedded in a layer (4) of plastic. The cutting sections (5) are mounted in pre-formed cutouts of the outer ring.
