The distillate is collected in a reservoir whose centre of gravity coincides with the point of attachment to a balance beam and which includes a valve to allow it to empty into sample collection vessels when the balance moves. - The balance includes both gravity and electromagnetic force elements and the electromagnetic element is linked to the drive motors for the two dimensional translation of the sample vessels in their racks. The circuit also includes a mechanical overload trip. - Due to relative simplicity in terms of electronic components, reliability under adverse chemical conditions is increased.
