PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a blue to cyan-colored image having good density and lightfastness by using an indolylphthalide compd. having a specific alkoxylated phenylamino group at the electron-donating colorless dye. SOLUTION: This indolylphthalide compd. is represented by formula I (wherein R<1> is an alkyl or phenyl; R<2> is H or an alkyl; R<3> is an alkoxy, an alkyl, an acylamino, an alkylthio, acetyloxy, phenoxy, or a halogen; R<4> is an alkyl; R<5> is an alkyl or phenyl; R<6> and R<7> are each H, an alkyl, an alkoxy, or a halogen; R<8> is H, an alkyl, an alkoxy, or a halogen; R<9> is H, an alkyl, an alkoxy, or a halogen; and ring A is a group represented by formula II). The amt. of the compd. applied as an electron donating colorless dye is pref. 0.2-1.5g/m<2> , though not specifically limited. The wt. ratio of the dye to an electron-accepting compd. (e.g. a phenol deriv.) in a recording material is pref. (1:5)-(2:3). |
