Internal lighting system for motor vehicle

A lighting system for the interior of an automobile has a light generator comprising a source and a reflector at one end of a number of flexible optical fibres whose other ends are connected to light-emitting elements and/or at least one such element for direct or indirect illumination of surfaces and symbols. At least two generators with associated fibres form a functional group, the sources being switched on and off together. The generators are distributed around the car interior to reduce fibre length. One group is controlled by door switch and one group is on or off depending on whether the parking lights are on or off.
