The present invention relates to the construction of crank mechanisms for reversible machines. This crank mechanism for reversible machine essentially comprises a cylinder block in the shape of two rectangular frames (5, 8) with one (8) of said frames mounted within the other (5). The body frame (5) is connected to a pair of covers (1, 2) and defines the device body. The inner frame (8) is capable of displacement along guides (12) in the body frame (5), thus defining cavities (2, 4) in the working chamber (6). A piston (10) is capable of displacement along guides (13) within the frame (8), thus defining cavities (1, 3) in the working chamber (9). The piston is formed with an opening having a crank (11) mounted therein, while the cover (1) is also formed with an opening (3) having a shaft (4) fitted in it, the shaft (4) and the crank (11) being connected with each other so as to form a crankshaft. The shaft also comprises openings (14, 15), while the crank (11) comprises a slide valve with cavities (18, 17) separated by a partition (18). The piston (10) also comprises openings (19, ..., 22), while windows (23, 24) are formed in the walls (25, 26) of the frame (8). This device operates as a hydro-pneumatic engine when a pressurised working body is fed into the opening (14), and as a pump when the shaft (4) is rotated.
