SYNTHETIC METHOD OF LITHIUM TITANATE SPINEL OXIDE MATERIAL USING A LI BASED MOLTEN SALT

A method for preparing lithium spinel titanate powder using a molten lithium salt is provided to simplify the overall process as compared with conventional wet processes, to prevent environmental pollution and generation of a significant amount of byproducts, and to obtain a useful electrode active material. A method for preparing lithium spinel titanate powder using a molten lithium salt comprises the steps of: (1) mixing lithium salt powder including lithium oxide with titanium oxide powder; (2) firing the mixed powder obtained from step (1) at a temperature higher than the melting point of the lithium salt; and (3) washing and drying the powder obtained from step (2). The lithium salt used in step (1) includes a lithium salt capable of melting lithium oxide at a temperature of 850 deg.C or lower.
