An arrangement for cutting veneer sheets has a bench on which is placed a stack of veneers which are cut first across the grain by a guillotine at one end of the bench, then with the grain by a second guillotine at the side of the bench. Extensions of the bench surface behind the cutters receive the offcuts. By bringing the two cutters together at the same bench, the stack of veneers is brought quickly and easily from one cutter to the other, without risk of the loss of alignment that can occur with cutters placed farther apart. If both ends of the veneers are to be cut, a second cross-grain cutter might be placed at the other end of the bench.
|
