PURPOSE:To reduce output modulation and to prolong the life of a floppy disk by setting the abutting position of a pivot backward from the center of a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:The position of a support pin 21 is set backward from the center point of the magnetic head 20 and a contact force point is set at the intersection O of the center line of the magnetic head 20 and the contacting surface of a medium. When the support pin 21 is shift backward from the center of the magnetic head 20, distance (l) is l=Htantheta, tantheta=F/W, and F=Hmu, so l=Hmu. Namely, when the position where the support pin 21 presses the magnetic head 20 is shifted backward from the center of the magnetic head by muH, the magnetic head surface applies uniform surface pressure to the medium; the life of the medium is prolonged and the output modulation is reduced, thereby reducing errors in recording and reproduction. In said equations, theta is the angle of composite force N, H is the height of the magnetic head from the contact surface of the medium to the lower end of the support pin, and mu is the coefficient dynamical friction between the magnetic head and medium. |
