PURPOSE: To provide a method and an apparatus for applying a pattern to textile articles such as clothes including socks, or the like, and their base materials. CONSTITUTION: The textile article is entered onto an expandable article support 29 which can approach a perforated pattern 38 to the article and pressed to the inside of the pattern 38 by expanding the support 29 to apply coloring agents to the article through the pattern 38. A round shape conveyer 23 carrying plural article supports 29 is moved stepwise between printing stations 54. A spray frame 44 carrying the printing stations is raised upwardly over the support 29 and the pattern 38 disposed thereon to spray dyes on the article through the pattern 38.
