PURPOSE: To provide a combustion chamber of a swirl chamber type diesel engine having a high utilization rate of air by providing an extended edge part continued to an edge part partitioning a swirl chamber from a main jet. CONSTITUTION: This combustion chamber is provided with a main jet 6 opening to the peripheral part of a main combustion chamber 8 to direct jet from a swirl chamber 5 to the central part of the main combustion chamber 8, an edge part 9 for partitioning the swirl chamber 5 from the main jet 6, a lower bottom surface 11 expanding to an opening part of the main jet 6 with a stage to the bottom surface of the swirl chamber 5 having the main jet 6 opened thereto and an extended edge part 12 formed by a stage between the bottom surface 10 and lower bottom surface 11 to be continued to the edge part 9.
