PURPOSE:To attain ease of measurement by using at least >=1 node among nodes constituting a local area network as load generation, applying a required load to a transmission line and sending data between nodes. CONSTITUTION:Digital data sent from a station 1 in a node 100 is converted into a packet format at a node 100 and sent to a node 200 via a transmission line 10, a star coupler 20 and a transmission line 10. An optional number of nodes among nodes 300-1-300-n for generating load is started while taking the capacity of the transmission line 10 between the nodes 100 and 200 into account to apply the load to the transmission line 10. Software 3 for generating load sends a packet and counts the number of sent packets. When some load generating nodes are started, the number of send packets per unit time is displayed. Thus, the load optimum to performance measurement is applied to the transmission line 10 to measure easily and accurately the performance of the transmission line.
