PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer in which head gap can be adjusted easily. SOLUTION: When print operation is performed while moving a print head in the direction parallel with a platen, head gap is detected based on the time required for the head pin to project from the print head and return back (step S2) and the driving time of the head pin in the print head id varied depending on the head gap (step S7).
