PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which allows for accurate estimation of the light source color on the basis of the pixel value, and to provide a control method thereof.SOLUTION: Pixels of an input image are classified to any one of a plurality of predetermined color groups. For each color group, a difference value representing the color group is calculated as a color group difference value, from the difference for each color component of pixel value of pixels thus classified, and then the light source color illuminating the subject of the input image is estimated from the color group difference value. For example, out of the color group difference values calculated for a plurality of color groups, a color group difference value calculated using a largest number of difference values is used for estimation of the light source color. |
