PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable radiotelephony system that can automatically switch its incoming-call notifying mode to the optimum state when a mobile station makes high-speed movement. SOLUTION: When an incoming call arrives at the mobile station 1, a high- speed movement detecting section 5 judges whether or not the number of moving times of the station 1 between radio zones in a fixed period of time counted by means of a positional registration management section 4 exceeds a preset prescribed number. When the section 5 judges that the number of moving times exceeds the prescribed number, the detecting section 5 judges that the mobile station 1 is in a high-speed moving state and an incoming call control section 9 rings a sounder 12 by automatically switching the incoming call notifying mode to a fixed mode, for example, to a small sound volume mode regardless of the contents stored in an incoming-call volume storing section 9 or vibrates the mobile station 1. The control section 9 can also operate the mobile station 1 to refuse the incoming call. Since the incoming call notifying mode is switched to the optimum mode, the user of the portable radiotelephony system can confirm the incoming call in such an incoming call notifying state that does not give any trouble to surrounding peoples during high-speed movement.
