Printing system and method for printing on objects

The present invention relates to a printing system in which an object is provided with a printed label using printers, in particular pad printers (5). The printing system (1) comprises a feed means (2) for automatically feeding one or more objects (4) to be printed on. A plurality of pad printers (5) are positioned along the feed means (2) in order to form in each case one working zone (6) in such a way that the object (4) moving along the feed means (2) can be successively printed on in different working zones (6). The feed means (2) is divided up into two feed sections (7, 8) which are arranged in a L shape with respect to one another. At their connection point (15) the object (4) to be printed on is transferred to the second feed section (8) without changing its north-south alignment. The individual working zones (6) each have a sensing unit (10) for producing an object-specific signal which can be fed to a central control unit (11) and the control unit (11) activates or deactivates the individual pad printers (5) in an object-specific fashion (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
