The inflatable air tanks are made of tearproof material and serve to keep a boat or ship afloat during distress at sea. The inflatable air tanks take up scarcely any space on board a ship, since they can be accommodated in the folded state at any point in the ship. The connections for the compressed-air tanks in pressure-pipe or pressure-hose construction also take up no particular space on board in the hull. The compressed-air cylinders occupy no particular space in the ship and can be arranged at any point. Non-return valves ensure that inflated tanks remain inflated in case a compressed-air line is destroyed. To this day it is the only possibility of keeping a boat or ship afloat in the sinking state during distress at sea. <IMAGE>
