The neutralisation system uses a conductive coating applied to the seat belt band (16), or conductive fibres woven into the material of the seat belt band (16), for equalising differing electrical potentials between the vehicle seat occupant and the vehicle body. At least one end of the seat belt band (16) is electrically coupled to the vehicle body, e.g. the door frame via a fixing point (17) adjacent the shoulder of the vehicle passenger wearing the seat belt. USE - For preventing seat belt wearer from receiving electrostatic charge.
