<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to produce a polyelectrolyte-encapsulated pigment excellent in dispersion stability in an aqueous medium. <P>SOLUTION: The method for encapsulating a pigment particle comprises (A) a step to form a dispersion of a pigment to be encapsulated, (B) a step to apply a polyelectrolyte layer to the surface of the pigment particle, (C) a step to apply a polyelectrolyte layer having opposite charge to the step (B), and/or a step to add a low molecular, multivalent ion charged oppositely to the step (B), and optionally, (D) a step to repeat the steps (B) and (C), wherein the steps (B), (C) and optional (D) are carried out in the presence of a nonionic surfactant. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
