PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control combustion states in accordance with fuel characteristics of fuel being used. SOLUTION: This combustion control device is provided with a fuel injection means 10 capable of directly injecting fuel into a combustion chamber in an internal combustion engine, a fuel characteristics detecting means S200 to detect at least one of fuel characteristics of the cetane number CN, the octane number, the evaporability, the heat generation quantity, and the aromatic group hydrocarbon content of the fuel being used, an injection pressure control means S310 to determine a target injection pressure PCRO in accordance with operation states of the internal combustion engine, and correct the target injection pressure PCRO in accordance with the fuel characteristics detected by the fuel characteristics detecting means S200 to be supplied to the fuel injection means 10, and an injection control means S330 to control the fuel injection means 10 based on main injection quantity Qmain and pilot injection quantity Qpilot computed in accordance with the operation states of the internal combustion engine.
