PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition for an active material layer capable of stably manufacturing an electrode plate for a nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery high in capacity and superior in battery characteristics by preventing peeling-ff of a plywood layer in an electrode plate manufacturing process.

SOLUTION: Metal salts of carboxyl methylcellulose and synthetic rubber based latex type adhesive are contained wherein the average molecular weight of one of the metal salts of carboxyl methylcellulose is 185,000 or less and that of the other is 350,000 and or more, and the mixing ratio of the methylcellulose and the rubber is 10:90 to 25:75.
