PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a subject that most of surface qualities using conventional pattern coating materials has been a monochromatic finish and another subject that the surface qualities of the conventional multicolor pattern coating materials have been an undifferentiated finish. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method to form a multicolor pattern coating film that is featured as follows. Firstly, on the surface of a base material, directly or through a primer layer, a primer coating layer having a protrusion is formed with a colored coating material. Then, the color tone of the primer coating layer is hidden with a colored finishing coating material the color tone of which is different from that of the primer coating film, and after it is coated so that the shape of the primer coating film can be recognized within a time when the finish coating film is still in the fluid condition, by rubbing the surface of the protrusion of the finishing coating film, the color tone at the protrusions of the primer coating film can be found.
