PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for discharging a reaction product from a moving hearth furnace, in which only a reaction product such as reduced iron is selectively discharged from the moving hearth of the furnace, while leaving a solid reducing agent as it is on the hearth. SOLUTION: Reaction products of different grain size are sieved on the hearth before they are discharged from the hearth to the outside of the furnace. Reaction products of small size are left on the hearth as they are, while reaction products of large grain size only are selectively removed out of the furnace.
